Wikicity mass amateurization of urban planning
Monday, 5 May, 2014 -
18:30 to 20:30

The University of Geneva, the Fondation Charles Léopold Mayer and urbaMonde are pleased to invite you to the conference and round table ''Wikicity: mass amateurization of urban planning'' with Zef HEMEL, Professor at the University of Amsterdam and urban planner.

Citizen participation in urban planning is a major issue for sustainable cities. The classical top-down scenarios are no longer appropriate for inhabitants engaged in defending their ideas and quality of life. How could we innovate participative processes for a more active citizen contribution in urban planning?

The conference will present the example of the planning scheme of Amsterdam, characterized bya particularly original participative approach entitled “Wikicity”. The presentation given by Zef Hemel will relate to this new concept lannched by the city of Amsterdam, within the framework of the 'Structural Vision Amsterdam 2040' of which the goal is to plan a democratic city by focussing on bottom-up processes and collective intelligence.

The conference will be in English with a simultaneous translation to French.
