North American HUB 2017 @ Intersections

Monday, 9 October, 2017 - 09:00 to Thursday, 12 October, 2017 - 20:00

For the third time, our North American partner, Grounded Solutions Network, organizes a major Conference on Community-led Housing gathering more than 500 project leaders, networks, CBOs, NGOs, umbrella organizations, researchers, housing professionals, and local governments from October 9-12 in Oakland, California! The Intersections Conference 2017 explores how to work collectively in order to make inclusive communities the new norm.

This year, for the first time, the Intersections Conference is Going International!

At Intersections 2017, Grounded Solutions Network will be introducing its new role as North American lead for the Social Production of Habitat Platform - an opportunity to elevate their members and allies and their efforts to build and steward permanently affordable homes as international models of sustainable housing.

Intersections Confernce will be joined by Leilani Farha, Special Rapporteur to the United Nations on the Right to Adequate Housing, who will share the Shift Campaign, which 'shifts' the practice of community-led housing from the margins into the international spotlight, and asserts that it’s a key solution to our world's affordable housing crisis.
The Conference expects to see a number of community land trusts and co-ops from Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, and Puerto Rico in attendance at Intersections 2017 for cross border learning opportunities.

Join us at the North American Social Production of Habitat Hub in Oakland!

Nominate Now for the 3rd Annual IGNITE! Community Pitch Fest & World Habitat Awards!

At the IGNITE! Community Pitch Fest, Members and Allies from around world will share three-minute presentations that highlight transformative innovations, wins and game changers. Finalists will be invited to “make their pitch” at Intersections 2017 and to compete for the coveted “Voters Choice” award.

This year, we’re excited to announce that IGNITE! nominations from North America will also be considered for the World Habitat Awards—a global competition that recognizes exceptional leaders solving today’s most pressing housing challenges.

Submitting a nomination is easy and you can nominate yourself or someone else. We’re simply looking for a 2-3 sentence description of a program or project from the past 10 years that excites you. The scale can be big or small but, either way, it should be a game changer.
